Brad / The Jets

The band Brad who later became The Jets

The history of The Jets by Bob Cotton

The Jets started as the band Brad in 1974. Remember the very first Caister, 1976, The first festival as The Jets as a three piece band (brothers).

I've also enclosed a pic of me (Bob Cotton) in a typical pose that all us teds did in those days, trying to look cool in the photo booth!!!

In those days we used to play at such venues as "The Minerva" and "The Westcliff Hotel" in Southend. "The Old Maypole" I think it was in Barkingside, "The Black Bull" Lewisham, "Adam and Eve" in Hackney, In our home town of Northampton the Rock 'n' Roll pub was "The Racehorse Inn". We also played in "Hitchen town Hall" and in Birmingham, it was "The Sydenham". "The Cocked Hat" in Nottingham. "Kingsway Tavern" in Luton. Then later towards the end of the '70's a regular venue was "The Royalty" in North London.

I remember travelling down to "Alexander Palace", "Pickets Lock" and the big march. I've got so many excellent memories of those times.

This year 2004, we have been playing Rock 'n' Roll for 30 years, that's a long time on the circuit. We've seen lots of changes, faces, venues, styles of dress, styles of music and most of all attitudes.

I'd like to say "Hello" to all the old Teds and Rockers from that era, if The Jets are ever playing in your area, please come and say "Hello". It would be great to meet you.

Keep Rockin' Bob Cotton and The Jets.
